As promised last summer, we would like to share more information about the masterclass on contemporary music Epoche_f.

In 2019 the activity will take place between 5th and 16th December 2019 and like the 2017’s edition, the master-course will start in Germany and continues with concerts in two other countries, this time in Belgium and the Netherlands.

This year 12 prize winners form the German classical music competition Jugend musiziert and 12 young musicians from EMCY member competitions are coming from all over Europe to take part in this amazing musical experience.

We are glad to announce that our talented winners will be:

Dagny Mehus, Bassoon (Norway), winner of Ungdommens Musikkmesterskap – Norwegian Music Competition for Youth
Matthieu Grandola, Flute (Switzerland), winner of Schweizerischer Jugendmusikwettbewerb (SJMW)
Margarida Martins, Oboe (Portugal), winner of Prémio Jovens Músicos
Rikardo Huna, Clarinet (North Macedonia), winner of International competition of young musicians ´Ohrid Pearls’
Emilie Ravn Jensen, Horn (Norway), winner of Ungdommens Musikkmesterskap – Norwegian Music Competition for Youth
Ture Herrgårdh, Trumpet (Sweden), winner of Polstjärnepriset Vänersborg in Sweden
Luna de Mol, Violin (Netherlands), winner of the Netherlands Violin Competition
Mikkel Brekke Krossli, Trombone (Norway), winner of Ungdommens Musikkmesterskap – Norwegian Music Competition for Youth
Mila Gafner, Viola (Switzerland), winner of Schweizerischer Jugendmusikwettbewerb (SJMW)
Syon Najman, Cello (Belgium/Bulgarian), winner of International Radio Competition for Young Musicians ‘Concertino Praga’
Viola Asoskova, Piano (Estonia), winner of International Junior Piano Competition ‘Brin d’herbe’
Skage Larsen, Drums (Norway), Ungdommens Musikkmesterskap – Norwegian Music Competition for Youth

The conductor will be Vimbayi Kaziboni, a Zimbabwean-born conductor that has led many orchestras around the world. The course will take place in north Germany, Kloster Frenswegen, with two further concerts in Antwerp (Belgium) and Amsterdam (the Netherlands). The musical program will contain works by Hanns Eisler, Earl Brown, John Adams, Anestis Logothetis, Nikos Skalkottas and Anton Webern.

The master course Epoch_f is organised by the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) on behalf of the Foundation “Jugend musiziert Niedersachsen” in cooperation with EMCY and made possible by the Lower Saxony Foundation in cooperation with Allianz Kulturstiftung. The course is one of the training programmes of the Federal competition “Jugend musiziert”.
