Margarida Martins was born in 1999 in Braga. She began her musical studies in 2005 at Conservatório de Música Calouste Gulbenkian de Braga in the class of José Fernando Silva. In 2013 she went to Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do AVE (ARTAVE) studying with the teacher Hugo Ribeiro. She worked with several conductors such as Luís Carvalho, Luís Machado, Pedro Andrade, Joana Carneiro, Dinis Sousa, Christophe Millet, Octavio Más-Arocas, David Bruchez, Roberto Pérez, Emílio de César, Peter Askim, Benoit Fromanger, Jan Dobrzelewski e Ivan Törsz.

Regarding chamber music, she had the opportunity to work with Lurdes Carneiro, Elisa Trigo, Jovanka Marville, William Blank, Véronique Carrot and Antoine Marguier.
She was part of the Orquestra Artave, Orquestra Aproarte and has already collaborated with Orquestra Filarmónica de Braga and Orquestra XXI. In 2017 she was selected to participate in “Estágio Gulbenkian para Orquestra” (EGO).

She attended masterclasses with Samuel Bastos, Hugo Ribeiro, Nélson Alves, Pedro Ribeiro, Simon Fuchs, Thomas Indermühle, Emmanuel Abbhühl, and Christian Wetsel. Margarida is the prize winner of many national and international competitions. In 2014, she won the 3rd prize in the Concurso de Sopros do Alto Minho. In 2014 and 2015, she was awarded the 2nd and 1st prizes, respectively, in the Juvenile category in the International Wind Instruments Competition “Terras de La Salette” and in 2017 and 2018, she was awarded the 2nd and 1st prizes respectively in the Junior category. Also in 2017, she won the 3rd prize in the “Prémio Jovens Músicos”, Chamber Music, Medium Level and, in 2018, the 2nd prize in Oboe, Higher Level. In 2017 she won the 3rd prize (ex-aequo) in the “IV Competition for Young Oboists Luca Figaroli”. In the year 2019, she won the “Young Artist Prize” in “The Muri Competition”.

Actually, she is studying to receive a Bachelor Degree at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne, where she is part of the class of Jean Louis-Capezzali and Vincent Gay-Balmaz.
