European Tours

Since 2007 EMCY organises a tour for young prize winners through western part of Europe. The Discover Music Tour begins with a multi-day workshop at UGDA Music School, giving the young musicians the possibility to get to know each other and to practice the repertoire. The workshop is followed by several concerts in Luxembourg and Germany. By playing in different European countries the musicians will acquire also the possibility to internationalize their career that represents a big plus for young talents.

Unlike the traditional music tours, in 2017, 2018 and 2019 the Discover Music Tour was enriched by audience development coaching with professionals in the music sector and, in addition, it took place in very unusual venues, searching various audience. After an intensive theoretical preparation and many workshops where the musicians were taught how to develop a repertoire of structured improvisation and short composed pieces, the artists gave outreach sessions and evening concerts in Luxembourg, Germany and Spain.

2022
The tour took place between 1st and 6th March, where three talented girls performed four concerts in Luxembourg and Germany. The prize winners were: Nicole Biegniewska (violin), winner of the Polstjärnepriset, Xinyue Gao (piano) winner of the International Competition Piano Val de Travers and Lea Reutlinger (cello), winner of the Concours Luxembourgeois pour Jeunes Solistes & European Competition for Young Soloists.
“It was definitely a new experience. It was very enriching because we worked on the musical program by ourselves. Everyone could contribute, it is something different than when you work on such pieces with a teacher. Now it all came from us. You have to learn that first, but it worked very well” Lea Reutlinger from Germany.
