Kristian Mráček (Czech/Serbian) violinist and David Pěruška (Czech) violoncellist are the two members of the Duo Mráček. Both of them were born in Prague – David in 2002 and Kristian in 2003 into musical families and they both started playing their instruments at a very young age. On behalf of their studies at the Prague Conservatory, they played together from 2019. They often took part in many international violin or cello competitions, where they gained a lot of experience and awards.
At the International Competition “Ohrid Pearls” in North Macedonia in 2018, Kristian won the 3rd prize and together with his younger brother Viktor – cellist, they won the 1st prize in chamber music. In Josef Micka International Violin Competition in Prague (2019) he won the 1st prize and became Absolute Winner of the competition. In 2019, he competed at the International Violin Competition “Talents for Europe” in Dolný Kubín (Slovakia), where he won the 2nd prize. Kristian had the opportunity to perform several times as a soloist with Czechoslovak Chamber Orchestra Prague and together with his father Jan Mráček sr. (2014, 2017, 2019), also with Prague Conservatory Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Chuhei Iwasaki (2019, 2020) and with Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra at the festival “Za poklady Broumovska”, conducted by Andreas Sebastian Weiser (2021).
David participated in many cello competitions every year and had excellent results. He won 1st prize at the Jan Vychytil International Cello Competition in Prague several times – in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2021. In Liezen in 2012 he won the 2nd prize. At the Bohuš Heran International Cello Competition in Ústí nad Orlicí had a 3rd prize (2015) and was a finalist of Dotzauer Cello Competition in Dresden (Germany) in 2019.
Kristian and David represented the Prague Conservatory at the Czech House in NY (Dec 2019), playing together also with two other students of Steinhardt NYU. The biggest success was, when they became winners of the International Radio Competition Concertino Praga in chamber music, playing duo from Zoltán Kodály and Bohuslav Martinů. Duo Mráček – Pěruška received the first prize from the Karel Komárek Family Foundation for their further musical development and Czech Radio will record and issue a CD of their performances. In addition, the Duo also received the Audience prize and the EMCY prize.
