Tekla Nilsson, born in 2002, started playing the clarinet at the age of nine. She studies with Christophe Liabäck in Lund, Sweden. During a year in Boston (2018-2019), she was a member of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (BPYO) led by Benjamin Zander, and studied chamber music at New England Conservatory. She has had masterclasses with Emil Jonasson, Magnus Holmander, Andrea Scarrafi and Yehuda Gilad. She is enrolled in the talent development program at the Nordic Center for Music talent (NCM).
Tekla Nilsson is the winner of Polstjärnepriset Vänersborg in Sweden 2020, Sweden’s foremost competition for young classical musicians. In 2018, she won second prize in the Øresunds Solist competition in Copenhagen. She received first prize in Stockholm International Music Competition 2016 in the chamber music category.
Tekla has performed as a soloist with Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish National Youth Wind Orchestra (Blåslandslaget), and with the pianist Ulrich Stærk at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.
