Franz Ludvig Serafin Kraggerud started to play cello when he was 5 years old and had rapid development. Recently he auditioned for the esteemed instrument collection Dextra Musica who owns Stradivari and Guarneri instruments. Their best smaller cello was awarded to Franz who will borrow this for the next few years. This cello was the instrument of the famous cellist and composer Miklos Perenyi. He used it in his youth and it is a great honour to be chosen for having it.
Franz likes to improvise on the piano and cello. Music has always made a great impression on him. Already at the age of 3 while building LEGO he would sing entire etudes by Kreutzer perfectly in tune just because his sister Alma had been practicing them on violin. When the family watched the famous Amadeus movie, Franz found some paper and composed a piece at age of 5 which he later played with his father Henning Kraggerud. He has absolute pitch and uses music as a language in addition to Polish and Norwegian, playing themes from his favourite movies and Netflix series whenever he takes a break from his normal practice.
He has performed as a soloist at Valdres Summer Festival, the largest summer festival in Norway for internationally talented youth. There he also performed Saint Saens Cello concerto. They were so impressed that they have commissioned a new piece he will perform there next year. He played for Truls Mørk in 2020. Torleif Thedeen, Guy Johnston, Natalie Clein and Johannes Moser have given him great feedback on his playing during the pandemic, lessons with some of them are already scheduled. Natalie Clein and Truls Mørk have given him lessons already. His teacher in Oslo is Kari Ravnan and he also had lessons with the Zara Nelsova-pupil Ole Eirik Ree.
