Diogo Pinheiro was born in 2003 in Santo Tirso. He began his musical studies at the age of 10 at Centro de Cultura Musical in the class of Pedro Leal. At the age of 12, he went to Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave (ARTAVE) studying with the teacher Hugo Ribeiro and later with the teacher Luís Alves.
Currently, he is studying at the Haute Ècole de Musique de Lauanne in the class of Jean-Louis Capezzali and Vincent Gay-Balmaz. He was a member of the Orquestra Artavinhos, Orquestra de Sopros Artave and Orquestra Sinfónica Artave.
He worked under the direction of the conductors: Fernando Marinho, Joshua dos Santos, Hugo Ribeiro, André Granjo, Luís Machado, Jaroslav Mikus, Luís Carvalho, José Gomes, Luciano Pereira, Ignatius Wang, Pedro Carneiro, Maxime Tortelier, Ernst Schelle, George Jackson, Daniel Harding, Artuto Tamayo and Nicolas Chalvin. He attended masterclasses with the oboists: Nelson Alves, Samuel Bastos, Thomas Indermühle, Jean-Michel Garetti, Ricardo Lopes, Diethelm Jonas, Jean-Louis Capezzali and Miriam Pastor.
He was awarded in the following competitions: «Terras de la Salette» in 2016 (2nd prize), in 2017 (3rd prize) and in 2018 (1st prize); “IV Concorso Internazionale per Giovani Oboisti” in 2017 (1st prize); 7th Concurso Internacional de Sopros do Alto Minho in 2019 (1st prize); Prémio Jovens Músicos in 2021 (1st prize in the medium level oboe category, 1st prize in the medium level chamber music category and the EMCY prize). From 2018 to 2020, he was a full member of the Jovem Orquestra Portuguesa.
In 2021, he was selected for the Jovem Orquestra de Famlicão and for the «Concertgebouworkest Young».
