From 19 to 21 September 2026, the Young Hearts Music Tour, organised by EMCY, brought together three young musicians for a series of concerts in Germany and Switzerland. The tour offered audiences the opportunity to discover the talents of award-winning musicians and experience a diverse musical programme spanning classical and jazz traditions.
The concerts took place on 19 September in Eggenfelden, Germany; 20 September at Seefeld Castle, Germany; and 21 September in Uster, Switzerland.
The tour featured Slovenian jazz pianist and composer Aljoša Kavčič and Polish flute duo Flute Effect, comprising Michał Szczutowski and Zofia Kryśka. Through their individual performances and collaborations, the musicians showcased their artistry, versatility, and the creative possibilities of making music together.
The programme combined works by composers from different musical traditions. Aljoša Kavčič performed George Gershwin’s Someone to Watch Over Me and Bill Evans’s Turn Out the Stars, alongside his own composition Light as a Mirror. Flute Effect presented Wilhelm Friedemann Bach’s Duetto for Two Flutes No. 1, Miklós Kocsár’s Klangfarben-Spiele, and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee, arranged by Peter Lynch. The three musicians also joined forces for Gary Schocker’s Three Dances for Two Flutes and Piano and Franz Doppler’s Andante et Rondo, Op. 25.
All three performers have already achieved notable milestones in their musical journeys. Aljoša Kavčič received the EMCY Prize at the TEMSIG Slovenian Music Competition for Youth in 2026. Flute Effect received the EMCY Prize at the International Competition for Young Musicians Ohrid Pearls in 2025, recognising the duo’s promising artistic work.
With its combination of individual expression, ensemble performance, and musical diversity, the Young Hearts Music Tour 2026 reflected EMCY’s commitment to supporting young musicians, creating performance opportunities, and connecting emerging talent with audiences across Europe.
Through initiatives such as this tour, EMCY continues to celebrate the next generation of musicians and help them take the next steps in their artistic careers.
