The selection for the National Competition prima la musica took place between February and April 2021.
A total of around 550 young musicians qualified for the Österreichische Jugendmusikwettbewerbe prima la musica 2021 and all categories were held in Salzburg from May 22nd to 30th, 2021.
Due to the short-term opening steps, participants and jury members were present in the hall and even parents and siblings could be there.
The entire competition was streamed live.
As the organisers said “the streaming was a big challenge for us, but we were able to broadcast all the rating games in high quality and without complications. We were also able to actively position the national competition on social media.”
A special highlight is the new cooperation with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra: on June 20th, 5 prima la musica PLUS prize winners will perform as soloists with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under Andrés Orozco-Estrada in the Wiener Konzerthaus.
