On Sunday, 18 February 2018, musicians from “Jugend musiziert” and the “Concours Luxembourgeois pour Jeunes Solistes” will perform at the European Academy of Otzenhausen. This is the third cross-border concert organised for young talents from Luxembourg and Saarland.

During the concert “Musik ohne Grenzen – Jugend trifft Klassik”, Yanis Grisó (violin), Val Kravos (piano) and Daniel Migliosi (trumpet) from Luxembourg as well as Eva Gillen (flute), Jakob Kasakowski (piano), Tobias Neubert (flute), Martina Rommel (piano) and Carl-Friedrich Welker (flute) from Saarland will play a number of musical highlights. They have put together a mesmerizing program that will take the audience into the world of classical music with works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, Jacques Castérède, Frédéric Chopin, Friedrich Daniel Rudolph Kuhlau and Niccoló Paganini.

The music competitions “Jugend musiziert” and ‘Concours Luxembourgeois pour Jeunes Solistes‘ already have a long tradition in Germany and Luxembourg. The EMCY member competitions encourage children and youth to improve and demonstrate their musical aptitude, which is the foundation of a musical career. It is true that their contributions must be measured by an age-appropriate and the artistic quality standards. However, it is not about the elite education. The competitions are in principle open to both beginners and more experienced young musicians, and anyone who reaches a certain rating can win. Therefore, the organisers do not consider it as problematic, but are happy – just like the young people – if they possibly award several first, second or third prizes.

The concert is organized by the European Union of Music Competitions for Youth (EMCY), the Union Grand-Duc Adolphe Music School and the “Concours Jeunes Solistes”, the Landesmusikrat Saar, the European Academy of Otzenhausen and the Stiftung europäische Kultur und Bildung.

Afterwards the organisers will offer a delicious buffet with specialties from the Greater Region.

For organisational reasons it is necessary to register. For more information and registration please contact Sandra Hemgesberg, Tel. 06873 662 – 263 or s.hemgesberg@stiftung-ekb.de
