In 2020, the Luxembourg music federation “Union Grand-Duc Adolphe” (UGDA) in close collaboration with the Conservatoire de la Ville d’Esch-sur-Alzette and the Théâtre Esch-sur-Alzette, organises a European Contest for Big Bands . The competition is open to non-professional Big Bands from all countries, in particular from Europe.
The dates are already known: the event will start on 18th April and end on the 19th April 2020 at Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg.
Traditional, as well as modern Big Bands, are welcome. The Big Bands should have a minimum of eleven wind players. Further instrumental additions (strings, turntables, singing, etc.) are allowed up to a maximum of 30 musicians for the whole band.
The competition includes two levels: High level/level A, and Medium level/level B and C. Each orchestra has to perform a set piece (published on September 15th, 2019) and a free programme.
