In the frame of the 56th edition of the German national competition Jugend Musiziert in Halle, another edition of the “Ausgezeichnet!” matinee concert has taken place. For many years this event has demonstrated the long-lasting cooperation of EMCY and Jugend Musiziert. Since the foundation of EMCY, this competition has been a big support for the European network, giving the possibility to young international talents to participate in their events. This matinee represents now a long-lasting appointment. This year the prize winner of the Swedish National Competition Polstjärnepriset Vänersborg, Josef Wijk has been invited to play with the young Japanese musicians of the German-Japanese Youth Exchange.

This concert expresses in just short time and a few sounds the essence not only of European cooperation, but also the concept and power of international cooperation through music. Despite what people think, cultural fusion and preservation of single cultural heritages are possible and enriching. As a matter of fact, this is what music can do: unite people and valorize cultures.
