For Şirin Pancaroğlu, discovering a variety of musical identities for the harp is a central endeavor. She is equally active in the realm of traditional Turkish music as she is in the mainstream harp repertoire.
Trained at the Geneva Conservatory and Indiana University Jacob’s School of Music, Şirin studied with Catherine Eisenhoffer and Susann McDonald.
She received further instruction on solo repertoire by Pierre Jamet, Notburga Puskas and Frederique Cambreling. With concerts in over thirty countries, fourteen album recordings and a multitude of collaborations to her credit, she has been sharing her musical roots with audiences, connecting the traditional to worldly ideas. Her work on unearthing the historical Turco-Ottoman harp called the “çeng” has earned her a unique place in harp history.
Şirin is the creator of “The Turkish Harp”, a project she has brought the project to 17 countries across 3 continents, holding over 70 events, since 2024. Recently she has been appointed as the Executive Vice President of the Harp-Related ICH Safeguarding International Association and serves as an advisor to the Jiuding Harp-Related ICH Museum in Henan, China. Şirin serves as a juror at international harp competitions and gives masterclasses and workshops internationally.
