Born in Granada, Spain, the young violinist Julia Dueñas began her musical education at the age of five and moved to Germany for musical reasons, where she attended the class for gifted children at the Carl Maria von Weber College in Dresden as a student of Olena Danyliuk. After Julia moved to Vienna with her family, the young violinist has been studying with Tatjana Sotriffer at the music school in Döbling since 2018.
Julia celebrated her first public success as the 1st prize winner of the Jugend Musiziert, both in the state competition and in the regional competition (Germany, 2016) with maximum points. Other competition successes were 1st prize at the Golden Note Competition (Vienna, 2018), national winner and 1st prize at the Prima La Musica Competition (Vienna, 2022), 1st prize at the “International Young Musician Competition” (Italy, 2017), 1st prize Prize with special distinction from the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School, 2nd prize at the Vienna International Competition (Vienna, 2018) and 2nd prize at the “International Violin Competition Josef Micka” (Prague, 2016). As the 1st prize winner of the Goldene Note Spezial 2020, Julia gave concerts with star violinist Lidia Baich and the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, a performance that was broadcast on Austrian Radio as part of the cultural initiative “Wir spielen für Österreich “.
Despite her young age, Dueñas has already performed in some of the most famous concert halls in Europe; in the Mozarthaus, in the MuTh, in the Albertina Hall and in the Glass Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna. The young violinist recently took part in a tour to Barcelona and made her debut at the age of 14 in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein. She has played subsequent concerts with the Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie under the direction of Wolfgang Hentrich at the Beethoven Festival Bonn, with the Radio Symphony Orchestra at the ORF Radiokulturhaus in Vienna and in the Brahms Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna. Julia was invited as a guest on the TV show “Guten Morgen Österreich”.
The highlights of the current season include her debuts with the Vienna Youth Symphony Orchestra in the Odeon Theater and a return invitation from the Deutsche Streicherphilarmonie with Wolfgang Hentrich in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein. The young soloist was invited by Prima la Musica Wien as the best violinist of all age groups to play at the award winners’ concert in MuTh Wien.
