EMCY is happy to announce that we have a new member competition: International Competition ‘Glowing Harp’. The competition is organised every two years and the next competition will take place from 19th to 24th April 2021 in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
The international competition is open to harpists of any nationality up to 25 years old. The competitors are divided in several age categories: from beginners, to professional harpists (Debut, I, II, III and IV). The repertoire includes works by composers of different epochs, also works by Ukrainian composers. The senior competition is held in two stages, the final with orchestra.
The history of the competition begins in 2006 when two Ukrainian harpists, Larisa Klievtsova and Veronika Lemishenko, wanted to create a special project in their home country. After more than ten years, the ‘Glowing Harp’ is much more than an international harp competition. It includes festival, masterclasses, recitals and other musical events.
