The Music Center of Slovakia in collaboration with the Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina is organizing the International Music Festival Allegretto Žilina, held in Žilina (Slovakia). The 29th edition will be held from 8 – 13 April 2019. A very unique combination of traditional music festival and classical music competition.
The festival’s sponsor is the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, through the governance and finance of an organisation: the Music Centre Slovakia.
This special event provides significant space for sharing cultural values and for confronting skills of the first-class young performers from Europe. It enables to get more familiar with the music and performing arts of our European neighbors as well as facilitating international dialogue. The idea of a fruitful international co-operation is here strengthened by the support of the Cultural institutes or Embassies of the countries seated in Slovakia.
This unique international occasion is of great interest in public and press in many countries of Europe. Nevertheless, it is a traditional event in the cultural life of Slovakia and it is a great opportunity not only to the young artists but also for the promotion of classical music and performing art.
In this edition an EMCY Prize winner has been invited to play with the Slovak Sinfonietta, Dmytro Udovychenko a Ukrainian talented violinist, winner of the International Jascha Heifetz Competition For Violinists in 2017. He will have the honor to play at the opening concert on 8th April guided by the conductor Niklas Benjamin Hoffmann – laureate of the Donatela Flick Conducting Competition in 2016.
EMCY is very proud to promote talented musicians in such important events, giving them the opportunity to be known internationally. As stated in the mission of EMCY, music has a really important role in creating connections: this is a concrete example on how there are no boundaries and no obstacles in the classical music world created by EMCY.
