Lance Weisen discovered his passion for the flute at the age of 7 in Isabelle Kayser`s class at UGDA music school, thereby starting his musical journey. He later continued his studies of the instrument at the Conservatoire de Musique de la Ville de Esch-sur-Alzette (CME), where he joined the flute and piccolo class of Päivi Kauffmann in 2019. Simultaneously he followed his other courses at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg (CVL).
Lance is an ardent ensemble player, performing in many groups and orchestras, including notably
the Orchestre de la Place de l`Europe, founded in 2021. Furthermore, he frequently participates in
orchestral projects and exchanges such as the National Youth Wind Orchestra Luxembourg, the
Orchestre Phiharmonique du Luxembourg, the Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg, and the
Luxembourg Military Band.
In September 2022, Lance started pursuing a Bachelor`s degree in Flute performance at the
Conservatorium Maastricht, studying under Valerie Debaele. Concurrently, he holds a diploma in
both flute and piccolo at the Conservatoire de Musique de la Ville de Esch-sur-Alzette, under the supervision of Päivi Kauffmann.
In 2023, Lance was awarded the Gold Medal, the EMCY Prize and the prize for Best Soloist in the
category “Piccolo Flute” at the Concours Luxembourgeois pour Jeunes Solistes.
