Urška Gutnik began playing the violin at the age of 8 with professors Nina Demšar and Nastja Cajhen Rode at Vrhnika Music School. Since 2015, she has been studying with prof. Žiga Brank, firstly at the Conservatory for Music and Ballet Ljubljana, then at the Ljubljana’s Academy of Music, where she is currently completing her bachelor studies.
She has received numerous awards in national and international competitions: first prize at the Slovenian Music Competition for Youth (TEMSIG 2021), second prize and prizes for best interpretation of capriccio and virtuoso piece at the Young Virtuoso competition in Zagreb (2021), first prize at Ars Nova Competition in Trieste (2017) and first prize and 100 points at Fantast international competition in Bečej, Serbia (2014).
Urška performed several times as a soloist with Domžale-Kamnik Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra of Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet in concerts in Munich, Ljubljana, Celje and Graz. She also performed Bach’s Double Violin Concerto with the Chamber Orchestra of Music Academy Ljubljana.
She has given solo recitals held by Jeunesses Musicales Ljubljana and Festival Ljubljana, together with trio Les petits couchons she played in the GM Oder cycle of concerts throughout Slovenia, held by Jeunesses Musicales Slovenia.
She also participated in masterclasses with professors Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Leonid Sorokow, Igor Ozim, Stefan Milenković, Vesna Stanković, Božena Angelova, Vasilij Meljnikov etc.
