Established in 2006 at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid (Spain), all its members are students of the School from different departments. Since 2018 the members are: Raquel Areal (1999) – violin, Patricia Cordero (2000) – violin, Raquel de Benito (1996) – viola and Montserrat Egea (1997) – cello. All of them were born in Spain and they have been granted a tuition scholarship by the Albéniz Foundation.
The Quartet has been trained by Professor Heime Müller (Artemis Quartet) in the Strings Department of Chamber Music Area at the Reina Sofía School of Music. It has also been awarded by Her Majesty Queen Sofía the Diploma to the most outstanding String Quartet in 2018/2019 academic year.
As an ensemble of the School, the Quartet has attended master classes with Jonathan Brown (Casals Quartet) and it has participated in the “Disfruta la Música” course (with the presence of HM Queen Sofia) and also in the Open Day Concert. This event was broadcasted live by RNE (Radio Nacional de España) by its classical music radio station.
The Quartet has given concerts around Spain in several places like “Sony Auditorium” and “Museo ABC del Dibujo y la Ilustración” in Madrid, “Capilla del Antiguo Hospital de San Juan de Dios” in Jaén, “Iglesia de San Pedro” in Teruel and “Iglesia de San Esteban” in Salamanca as guest quartet in the “VI Ciudades Patrimonio de la Humanidad de España” chamber music concert program.
In May 2019 the Quartet won EMCY Prize in “94º Juventudes Musicales de España” Competition in Chamber Music program
