Dongping Wang was born in Qingdao, China in 2002. He began playing the piano at the age of 5. At the age of 14 he had already performed with great success at Qingdao Grand Theatre in front of over a thousand listeners. Since 2019 he became a student of Prof. Igor Levit at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, Germany.

He is a prize winner of several international competitions. Among others he won the first prize at the 1. U-PLAY Piano Competition in Shanghai in 2015 and the International Zhongsin International Music Competition in Singapore in 2017. Recently, he also won the EMCY prize at the 15. PIANALE International Academy & Competition, an award which includes an invitation for a solo recital in Bayreuth in July 2023.

In 2021, Dongping Wang began his studies of historical keyboard instruments with Prof. Zvi Meniker and has been ever since regularly performing at the concert series “Alte Musik zur Monatsmitte”.

In 2022 he won a scholarship of Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Hannover.
