Our beloved member competition, the International Yehudi Menhuin competition for young violinist will take place next year in Richmond, U.S.A. The competition will commence with a spectacular Opening Gala Concert, featuring the winners of the previous edition (Geneva, 2018) Christian Li and Chloe Chua, and the 2020 juror Soyoung Yoon. In addition to their masterful performances of cherished solo violin works, a number of celebratory orchestral works will be performed by the Richmond Symphony, conducted by guest conductor Jahja Ling.
44 violinists, under the age of 22, will be selected from all over the world. The most remarkable aspect of this event is that the jury members give performances, master classes and provide opportunities to support and develop the young participants in the contest. This amazing competition does not give only the chance to young musicians to confront with each other at an international level, but gives them also the possibility to learn from experienced musicians.
In addition, another unique event is organised in this landscape of musical events: the Jurors Showcase. This concerns an evening which showcases chamber music at a high level.
The Closing Gala Concert which will host performances of the Junior and Senior prize winners featuring last edition prize winners and the jurors Ray Chen, Sphinx Virtuosi and the Richmond Symphony, conducted by Andrew Litton.
Well, what to add to this amazing series of appointments? Just don’t forget to apply: applications will be open until 31st October 2019. More information here
