Also this year, the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) on behalf of the Foundation “Jugend musiziert Niedersachsen” and in cooperation with EMCY will give the opportunity to more than 20 young musicians aged 14 to 20 to take part in the Epoche_f Masterclass.
The masterclass will take place between the 19th and the 28th of November 2021. The young musicians, at the pre-professional stage of their careers will try their hand on works of the 21st and 20th centuries.
The young participants under the guidance of the conductor Peter Tilling and the members of the Ensemble Modern, will decipher “foreign” scores of New Music, practice new playing techniques and create the new sound experience in individual, group and tutti rehearsals.
A selection of the developed repertoire will be presented to the public in three final concerts:
The program will include works by John Cage, Fred Frith, George Benjamin, Michael Gordon, Markus Hechtle, Catherine Milliken, Arnold Schönberg, Benjamin Britten as well as the world premiere of a new work by Elnaz Seyedi.
