99th edition of Concurso Juventudes Musicales – Results

The ninety-ninth Concurso Juventudes Musicales of Spain took place between June 23 and 25, at the Alfonso X el Sabio University (UAX), Madrid.

Of the twenty piano participants in the face-to-face phase, a total of six finalists went to the final. With twelve participants in the modality of other instruments (accordion, percussion and harp), who presented a great variety of repertoires and demonstrated a high interpretive level.

Piano:

The first prize  was awarded to Laura Ballestrino Mateos (Madrid, 2000)
The second prize went to Carlos Marín Rayo (Madrid, 1994)

The other instruments: 

The first prize was awarded to the accordionist Marta Cubas Hondal (Santander, 2002)
The second prize went to the percussionist Diego Casado Rodríguez (Madrid, 1997).

Both the first and the second prizes will perform concerts on the JM Spain Music Network circuit.

The jury members of the contest were chaired by the composer Jesús Rueda and included the pianists Josep Colom, Mariana Gurkova, Miguel Ituarte and Jesús Herrera, the percussionist Antonio Martín, the accordionist Nekane Iturrioz, the harpist Nuria Llopis and the programmer Pepe Mompeán, and Antonio Martín, secretary of JM Spain, as secretary without vote.
