The 58th national competition Jugend Musiziert, a project of the German Music Council, came to an end in Bremen and Bremerhaven.
Due to the corona, a public federal competition in 2021 with participants in attendance was not possible. For this reason from 20th to 26th of May, 140 jurors from all over Germany assessed 1,730 videos submitted by 2,250 participants in the solo and duo categories who had qualified for the national competition, subject to strict hygiene requirements.
A total of 437 first prizes, 652 second prizes and 599 third prizes were awarded.
The musicians and all those interested in the competition were able to follow it digitally. JumuTV streamed the national competition 2021 in all its diversity with around 5 hours of broadcasting time per day.
The Project manager Ulrike Lehmann said “I’m very happy with the result of the national competition ‘Jugend musiziert‘ in 2021. Together with all those responsible in the city of Bremen, Bremerhaven and also in the Bremen State Music Council, we succeeded in organising a wonderful national competition under these unusual circumstances. However, we are all aware of how much the presentation on a stage, the applause and the atmosphere in the concert hall are missed by everyone involved. That is why the second part of the national competition is planned as a face-to-face competition. Then all those interested have the opportunity to attend to experience the musical performances live.”
The second part of the 58th national competition “Jugend musiziert” for the categories “percussion ensemble” and “special line-ups with works from the Classical, Romantic, Late Romantic and Classical Modern periods” will take place in Bremen from 9th to 12th of September 2021 as a face-to-face competition.
The competition will be followed by the WESPE – the weekend of the special prices 2021. The event will take place on September 17th and 18th in Regensburg , the WDR 3 Klassikpreis of the city of Münster on September 25th and 26th in Münster.
