Soyoung Yoon performs internationally as soloist and chamber musician. At the age of seventeen Soyoung won the Senior 1st Prize of the Menuhin Competition 2002 in Boulogne-sur-Mer, and was subsequently a prizewinner of the Tchaikovsky Competition, the Queen Elisabeth Competition, the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, and the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition.

Soyoung Yoon has performed with orchestras such as the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the NDR North German Radio Symphony, Russian National Orchestra, National Orchestra of Belgium, Polish National Radio Symphony, Bern Symphony Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and Zurich Chamber, Korean Chamber Orchestra. She has collaborated with conductors including Krzysztof Penderecki, Gilbert Varga, Antoni Wit, Saulius Sondeckis, Michal Nesterowicz, Krzysztof Urbanski and Muhai Tang.

As first Concertmaster, Soyoung Yoon has been leading the Basel Symphony Orchestra since 2012. She performs on the J.B.Guadagnini 1773 ‘ex-Bückeburg’.
