The main goal of the competition is popularization and development of the best traditions of Russian violin performing art, discovering young talented musicians and supporting them in their professional potential.

The competition is organized by the David Oistrakh Charity Foundation. The goal of this foundation is to support and carry on the great traditions of Russian culture trusteeship and patronage of arts. Projects of the foundation include the international violin competition, awarding grants to talented young artists, organizing concerts, tours, master classes and cooperation with other organizations with similar aims in Russia and abroad.

Application

The application form must be sent by mail together with the following documents to the organizing committee:

  • Video-recording (DVD)
  • program to be performed with indication the duration of each piece
  • brief resume indicating educational establishment, teacher and information concerning participation in other music competitions
  • copy of the educational document
  • photocopies of passport or birth certificate;
  • photographs not less than 600 x 800 pixels (in electronic form) or 6 x 12 sm (in printed form)
  • Copy of the invoice with the payment of the participation fee.
  • A document confirming participation in the competitions that are members of EMCY or WFIMC

The participation fee is 100 EUR. In event of withdrawal from the competition the documents and the entrance fee will not be returned.

All participants of the competition will receive a Certificate of participation.
No more than 30 contestants will be admitted to the 1st round in each category.
All participants that were not admitted to the next round will have the possibility to have a personal consultation with the members of the Jury and discuss with them their performance.

Rules

The participants should be aged from 10 to 28 and divided in 2 age categories.
Junior – from 10 to 16 (inclusive)
Senior – from 17 to 28 (inclusive)

First Round
Number of candidates admitted to the first round is:
For the Junior age group- not more than 22 participants
For the Senior age group- not more than 40 participants

Second Round
Number of candidates admitted to the second round is:
For the Junior age group- not more than 12 participants
For the Senior age group- not more than 20 participants

(final) Round
Number of candidates admitted to the third round for Junior and Senior age categories is not more than 6 in each category.
Auditions of the third round for Junior category are held with the Chamber Orchestra, for Senior category – with the Symphony Orchestra.
All auditions are held openly.

For all the participants and their accompanying personas Organizers will send an official invitation to the Competition for the procedure of getting visa at the Consulate of the Russian Federation.
Participants passed to the basic competition will be provided with free accommodation in the hotel 3* during their participation in the competition.
The organizers of the Competition also are ready to book a room in the hotel for the participant’s accompanying persons.
The participant may perform with his accompanist.
The organizers will provide the participant with an accompanist if necessary.

2nd Prize – 3000 €

3rd Prize – 2000 €

Category Senior (17-28 years old)

1st Prize – 15000 €

2nd Prize – 10000 €

3rd Prize – 5000 €

Special prizes and awards

The organizing committee has the right to set up special prizes and awards.

Winners of the Competition may be invited to take a part in the concerts organised by the David Oistrakh Charity Foundation.

All participants of the competition will receive a Certificate of participation.

State and public institutions, creative unions, mass-media, firms and private persons may be the founders of special prizes and awards, in coordination with the Organizing Committee and the Jury of the competition.
