The participants should be aged up to 26 years old.
The competition has up to three rounds depending on age.

Participants can register on the website of the Dutch Violin Competition in their own age category. The registration is only valid if the participant’s entry is complete.
The age limit applies on the day of the final of the Oskar Back Prize: January 29, 2022.
Iordens A (10 to 12 years): born between January 30, 2013 and January 29, 2016
Iordens B (13 to 14 years): born between January 30, 2011 and January 29, 2013 *
Davina van Wely (14 to 17 years): born between January 30, 2008 and January 29, 2012 *
Oskar Back (18 to 26 years): born between January 30, 1999 and January 29, 2008
Showcase (6 to 17 years old): born between January 30, 2008 and January 29, 2020
* Violinists who are 14 years old can choose in which category they want to participate.
Participants of Oskar Back should have:
-a Dutch passport
Participants of Iordens and Davina van Wely should have:
-a Dutch passport
-or live in The Netherlands

The repertoire lists, the program, the conditions for participation and the jury regulations will be placed on our website on March 1, 2025. From May 1, 2025 (ovb) the parts and scores of the new compositions that the participants will play in the preliminary rounds will be on our website.

Talent Support
In addition to the various cash prizes, the Dutch Violin Competition has an extensive Talent Support program and offers opportunities for violinists of all ages to develop further before, during and after the Dutch Violin Competition. The finalists of the Dutch Violin Competition are offered performances to gain experience. In addition, they can receive guidance and make use of the network of the Dutch Violin Competition. The aim is for top talent to move on to a follow-up study, a coaching trajectory or participation in an international violin competition.
The finalists in the Oskar Back and Davina van Wely categories are invited to gain extra concert experience during various laureate concerts in the Netherlands. Ekkehard Jung Artists & Projects in Berlin will represent the Dutch Violin Competition in Europe. This will enable the three finalists in the Oskar Back category to give concerts in Europe.
The winners of the Prize for best execution of the compulsory assignment composition will receive free tickets and will be invited to perform (Oskar Back and Davina van Wely) or to participate in a workshop (Iordens A and Iordens B) during Gaudeamus Muziekweek 2019.
