In October 2024 Martina Meola has been the absolute winner of the 8th edition of the International Piano Competition “Città di Minerbio”, also winning the Absolute First Prize in category I, the Liszt Prize and the EMCY Special Prize.
Born in Milan on November 28, 2012, Martina Meola began her piano studies in Moldova at the age of six with Prof. Irina Bogataia at the School of Art “A. Starcea” of Chisinau. In June 2022 she was admitted in the special course reserved for “Young Talents” at the Conservatory “G. Verdi” of Milan, where she is currently studying with passion in the class of Prof. Silvia Limongelli.
At such a young age, she has won among others the Grand Prix at the International Competition “Clara Peia” in Lugos (Romania), the first overall prize at the International Competition “Ischia-Note on the sea”, at the international Festalonia Milenio “Music box” competition in Spain, at the International Piano Competition “Grand Master” – Edition Vladimir Horowitz in Ukraine, at the “Admiralty star” international competition in St. Petersburg (Russia), at the “City of Albenga” Piano Competition, at the International Piano Talents Competition in Milan, where she also won the “Kids super Prize” and the second prize at the “City of Cantù” International Competition for piano and orchestra.
In 2020, at the Organ Hall “Giovani Talenti” in Chisinau, she performed the Concerto in F minor BWV 1056 by J.S. Bach with the National Chamber Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Andries and in 2021 the Concerto in A major K414 by Mozart, always with the National Chamber Orchestra conducted by Cristian Florea.
In Moldova in 2021 she was awarded as a Prodigy Talent of the Year, while in 2022 she received the “Gala Excelentei Musicale” Award.
In 2023 she won First Place in the category H – Young Talents of the Milan Conservatory Award, held concerts in Florence, Rome and Brussels and was invited to perform Beethoven’s Concert n.1 op.15 during the gala concert of the “European Political Community Summit Chisinau Moldova”.
In 2024 she has played in Munich, Milan (Sala Puccini), Chisinau (Organ Hall), Paris (Salle Cortot); in June she performed Concerto no. 3 by L. van Beethoven at the Verdi Hall of the Milan Conservatory with the Youth Orchestra conducted by Daniele Moles and on the occasion of the official visit of the Italian President Sergio Mattarella to Moldova.
She has recently participated in a masterclass held by Lilya Zilberstein. In addition to being the absolute winner of the International Piano Competition City of Minerbio, in the same period she was the winner of the Galletta Prize of the Livorno Piano Competition.
