Samanta Škorja (1997, Slovenia) began her clarinet studies with Karl Glavina at the Music School Koper and then graduated with honors at the Artistic Gymnasium Koper (Slovenia) in the class of Borut Vatovec. She finished her Bachelor and Master studies at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana (Slovenia) in the class of Jože Kotar and she also got a Master degree at Haute école de musique Genève (Switzerland) in the class of Romain Guyot.
She has been achieving high results on national and international competitions; she won the first place at the International Competition “Città di Carlino”, International Competition EMONA, International Competition Marco Fiorindo, International Competition Davorin Jenko, Varaždin Woodwind & Brass Grand Prix Competition, UniWindLjubljana International Competition, France Music Competition and recently on Cluj International Music Competition. She is a three-time winner of the Slovenian National Competition TEMSIG, where this year she also received a special award for 100 points achieved and a special award for the best played piece by a Slovenian composer.
As a soloist she performed with Filarmonica Braşov, Filarmonica de Stat Dinu Lipatti Satu Mare, both in Romania, and with the Symphony Orchestra of Slovene National Theatre Maribor. Before that she also performed with the Slovenian RTV Symphony Orchestra and the Slovenian Army Orchestra. She was a member of Mediterranean Youth Orchestra (OJM) and the European Union Orchestra in Bucharest. Since 2019 she has been a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchestra (GMJO) and a substitute musician of Orchestra de la Suisse Romande (OSR). She has played in the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Slovenian RTV Symphony Orchestra, Slovenian Police Orchestra, Slovenian Clarinet Orchestra and in Slowenisches Kammerorchester Wien. Samanta participated also at the Aurora Music Festival in Stockholm.
She is passionate about participating in various classical and contemporary chamber music projects, with which she performed at the New Music Forum, Festival Lent Maribor, Festival Ljubljana and Piranski glasbeni večeri. She also performed solo recitals in Union Hall Maribor, Magistrat Town Hall of Ljubljana and in the Russian Scientific and Cultural Centre in Ljubljana.
She is attending masterclasses of internationally renowned clarinetists, such as François Benda, Yehuda Gilad, Paolo Beltramini, Calogero Palermo, Mate Bekavac, Massimiliano Miani and others.
She is the recipient of the 2022 Yamaha scholarship.
