At only 22 years of age, Noelia Cotuna has already achieved great success on the international stage. She was awarded the 4th Prize at the USA International Harp Competition, and is also a winner of the Trinity Laban Soloists’ Competition, 88th Concurso Permanente JM Spain and EMCY Prize, North London Camac Harp Competition and ‘Suoni d’Arpa’ International Harp Contest.
Between 2019 and 2022, Noelia was a member of the Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker, working under the guidance of harpist Marie-Pierre Langlamet. An experienced orchestral player, she has performed and toured extensively under the baton of renowned conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Harding, Zubin Mehta and Daniel Barenboim, amongst others. She collaborates with various professional orchestras, including Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester and Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester in Berlin, Orquesta Nacional de España, and is a member of the newly-founded Utopia Orchestra.
Noelia is in high demand as a soloist and has been featured at the World Harp Congress, Proms at St Jude’s Festival, Harp on Wight Festival and Rassegna dell’Arpa Viggianese. Equally at home as a chamber musician, she performs with various ensembles around Europe and has appeared at the Philharmonie in Berlin, Cadogan Hall in London, and the National Auditorium of Music in Madrid.
She made her concerto debut alongside the Orchestra of Valencia, and notable performances include Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp as part of Madrid Symphony Orchestra’s ‘Proyecto Talentos’ and with the Mozart Ensemble Berlin, and Renié’s Harp Concerto with Trinity Laban’s Symphony Orchestra in London.
Born in Spain, Noelia started learning the harp at the age of six and later moved to the class of Ana Martínez at the Professional Conservatoire of Music of Valencia. She completed her studies there in 2016, obtaining Professional Music Prizes in Harp and Chamber Music. She holds a first-class Bachelor in Music with Honours from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, where she studied with Prof. Gabriella Dall’Olio and Frances Kelly. Noelia was awarded the John Marson Harp Prize for Outstanding Musicianship, Director’s Prize of Excellence and the 2020 Musicians’ Company Silver Medal. She was generously supported throughout her studies as a Gladys Bratton, Rosamund Mott, AIE Spain and Trinity College London Scholar.
Noelia is currently studying for her Masters in Solo Performance at the Universität der Künste in Berlin, with harpist Marion Ravot. She also plays with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, as a member of their Orchestra Academy.
