EMCY never sleeps and never stops to pursue its aims. This time two of its most important goals were achieved with just one event: “Musik ohne Grenzen – Jugend trifft Klassik”. In this occasion, an European cooperation between Germany and Luxembourg was installed and young prize winners were promoted and invited to play on Sunday, 10 March 2019 at 11.00 a.m., at the European Academy Otzenhausen, Germany.

The event was opened by the salutation of Dr. Hanspeter Georgi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for European Culture and Education and introduced by Bernhard Fromkorth, President of the State Music Council Saar and Paul Scholer, EMCY president and the Director of the Ecole de Musique de l’Union Grand-Duc Adolphe.

The artists that performed at the concert were the prize winners of Jugend musiziert and the Concours Luxembourgeois pour Jeunes Solistes:
Leonard Bachmann and Filip Jacob (duo trumpet and piano) *
Matis Grisó (violoncello, Piano accompaniment: Isabelle Trüb-Brown) *
Amelie Schröder and Anna-Florence Cho (duo flute and piano) *
Julian Schwaiger (guitar) *
Dorothea Tatalidis (trumpet, piano accompaniment: Pit Heyart)

The musicians from Saarland and Luxembourg played works by Albeniz, Bach, Bruch, Goedicke, Haydn, Parès, Pessard, Popp, Saint-Saëns and York, delighting the audience and giving a relevant proof of how music can cross borders and reunite young people, but also organizations and countries.

“In March we crossed national borders and welcomed young music talents from Saarland and Luxembourg, but from different european and other nationalities.” said Paul Scholer, Director of UGDA Msuic School and President of EMCY.

This occasion was just a reminder of how far the European cooperation has gone since 1950, mostly in the cultural sector, thanks to the relentless commitment of the before mentioned organisations.
