“Il Piccolo Violino Magico” 2019 – results

A small and charming village in north-eastern Italy, San Vito al Tagliamento hosted last week “Il Piccolo Violino Magico” International Competition for young violinists.

This year, Edward Walton, a 13 years boy from Australia has been awarded 1st prize. He is a student of Dr. Robin Wilson at the Australian National Academy of Music. He received €5,000, an instrument made by contemporary Italian violin maker, Fabio Piagentini – plus a number of important European concert engagements.  Here you can listen to Edward playing the final round

The winner of the second prize was Teo Gertler from Slovakia (11 years old) and the third prize Flavia Napolitano from Italy (12 years old). Forth and the fifth prizes were awarded to Pospekhina Stefania from Russia and Pochebut Margarita from Ukraine.

 

This year’s Audience Prize was also awarded to Edward Walton.

The 2019 violin jury comprised: Pavel Vernikov (President), Viktor Tretyakov, Sophie Rachlin, Eszter Haffner, Gianpaolo Peloso, Dong-Suk Kang and Sergej Krylov.

Through an extensive promotion into the network of the many Italian music schools and conservatories and of the most important European and world musical institutions, “Il Piccolo Violino Magico” aims to become a model of an healthy, positive, top-level musical contest for young artists, offering them the great opportunity to perform accompanied by orchestra during the competition rounds.
