EuroRadio Youth Concert

"I've wanted to play with an orchestra since a long time. There is a special feeling we get from it. I never had the opportunity to play the piece I will perform at the concert, that's why I chose it."

Rennosuke Fukuda (Japan), violinist for the EuroRadio Youth Concert in March 2016, playing Wieniawski´s Concerto for violin nr. 2.

"It was a great experience to be able to play this concert in Prague. Everyone was very friendly, and the cooperation with Petr Vronský and the orchestra worked great. Even with the other two soloists David Petrlik and Victor Maslov I have understood very well. I've never played in front of such a large audience, and the presence of cameras and microphones also made me to be exited. But by the unique atmosphere in this magnificent hall, the excitement was forgotten with the first note.It was a very nice experience and I'm happy that I had the opportunity to play in this concert."

Lia Vielhaber (Germany), Cellist for the EuroRadio Youth Concert in April 2014

The EuroRadio Youth Concert is held each year in a different European city in cooperation with the with European Broadcasting Union, a national radio and famous professional orchestra.
This annual event is an excellent opportunity for highly talented prize winners of EMCY member competitions to play a live performance that is broadcasted across Europe through the EBU and regional radio stations.

The EuroRadio Youth concert took place 25th March in the prestigious Mihail Jora Concert Hall in Bucharest, Romania. This year it featured the two amazing Prize winners Rennosuke Fukuda, winner of the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists and the International Competition for Violin, Kloster Schöntal, and Fermín Villanueva, EMCY prize winner of the 2014 edition of Concurso Permanente de Jóvenes Intérpretes and the International Competition Young Virtuosos. They had the opportunity to play a live broadcasted concert with the Romanian Radio National Orchestra, under the direction of Gabriel Bebeselea. The young and talented musicians offered the audience beautiful pieces from Henryk Wieniawski, Edouard Lalo and Franz Schubert.

Rennosuke Fukuda: "Of course before every concert I’m nervous. But I’ve been really excited to play in front of a lot of people since when I was child. And I like it so much when, after the performance, people applaud me. This moment is the happiest time. So I’m practicing everyday for it."

Fermín Villanueva: "For the concert I mostly expect to enjoy the interpretation of the Lalo Concerto together with the orchestra and the conductor but mostly to feel the public in admiration and joyfulness with the music."

EMCY is very happy that we succeeded in establishing a long lasting relationship with the Romanian Radio, which offered us to organize the EuroRadio Youth Concert in 2015, 2016 and 2017!

"The concert with Norwegian Radio Symphony Orchestra was a fantastic experience for me! Thanks to EMCY, I had the opportunity to present myself in the part of the world where people have never heard about me, nor my playing. This performance gave me a shot to play with one of the best orchestras and to cooperate with Maestro Ari Rasilainen, and for a young performer as I am, this was very important. The fact that the concert was live broadcasted in countries around Europe makes this performance one of the most significant ones in my career."
