Samuel Van de Velde, born in Belgium on 23/01/1998 is the youngest son of a family of 4 brothers. He began to play piano at the age of 6. His first teacher was his father, who is a professional trumpet player. Soon, it became clear that he was gifted when he participated and obtained prizes in several competitions. He won first prizes at the National Competition for Piano ‘Cavatine’ and won the first prize, twice, at the ‘Cantabile’ piano competition.

He also obtained the second prize at the ‘Rotary Breughel’ competition.

In 2014 he obtained the first prize at the ‘Belfius Classics’ competition, allowing him to perform as soloist with the orchestra ‘Prima La Musica’, where he played the 1st concerto by Liszt.

At the age of ten, he was allowed to study at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Chapelle in the class of Mr. Abdel Rahman El Bacha and Dimitris Saroglou. In this institute, he followed masterclasses with several internationally renowned pianist such as Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden and Dimitri Bashkirov.

In 2010, Samuel was invited to perform as soloist with a symphonic orchestra to play a Mozart Concerto, while last year he performed the 2nd piano concerto of Sjostakovitch with the ‘Limburgs Jeugdorkest’.

At the moment, Samuel studies with dr. Jan Michiels in the young talents class at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

Samuel often performs chamber music, in combination with one of his brothers.
