Philipp Scheucher was born in Graz (Austria) in 1993. At the age of five his musical studies began at first at a local music school and soon his extraordinary musical talent lead him to Maria Zgubic and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Since 2008 he is there student of Markus Schirmer, with whom he performed already as a twelve-year-old at the “Wiener Musikverein”.
After his first success at youth piano competitions – for example, he won the Austrian competition "Prima La Musica" five times – several other prizes followed: He is multiple award winner of the international Munich piano competition "Münchner Klavierpodium". In May 2010 he achieved to be absolute winner of the international competition "Zlatko Grgošević" in Zagreb/Croatia and in addition, he won the first prize at the international piano competition "Ricard Viñes" in Lleida/Spain in the same year.
The Austrian young rising pianist currently performs both at home and abroad in concert halls amongst Europe’s most important, such as the “Golden Hall” in the “Wiener Musikverein”, the “Gewandhaus in Leipzig” or the “Herkules-Saal” in Munich. His concerts lead him to cultural centres all around the continent – to Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Croatia, Hungary and the Czech Republic. Equally important are his performances with a number of relevant orchestras and conductors, for example, the “Graz Philharmonic Orchestra” with Dirk Kaftan, the “Great Orchestra of Graz – recreation” with Michael Hofstetter, the “K&K Philharmonic Orchestra” or the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. He had two first prizes at prestigious international piano competitions: in Cologne (Germany) in September 2014, where he performed Beethoven’s second piano concerto with the WDR (German Broadcast)-Orchestra under the direction of Alexander Prior and the first prize at the “Aarhus (Denmark) International Piano Competition” together with several special prizes in March 2015. His latest achievements are the 2nd prize "8th Ferenc Liszt" piano competition in San Benedetto (Italy), the 2nd prize "13th UNISA" piano competition in Pretoria (South Africa), USA (solo recital) debut in Chapin Hall at Williams College in January 2017.
