Bassoonist Luka Mitev, born 16th December 1997 in Postojna, started bassoon lessons with his father Zoran Mitev. Already at the first performances and competitions he characterise with a convincing game and senior medals.

Even at the age of twelve he made his debut as a soloist in the Orchestra of Logatec and presented the song 'Don't Mock Baroque' composer W. Shadbolt. Later, he also performed as a soloist with the Coast Chamber Orchestra and String Orchestra Music School Postojna, where he performed the Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra in D minor by Vivaldi.

He has participated in several national competitions and achieved high scores: golden prize, the regional competition TEMSIG 2010, gold medal and first prize TEMSIG 2010, gold medal and first prize TEMSIG 2013, finalist Eurovision Young Musician 2014 in Slovenia; and international competitions: 1st prize laureate and 100 points (S. Mokranjac, Požarevac, 2006), 1st prize, 100 points (D. Jenko, Belgrade, 2007), 1st prize (OFF; Plant, 2009), 1 . Prize laureate and (D. Jenko, Belgrade, 2010), a finalist in the competition EMONA 2012 (4th place, Ljubljana), 1st Prize laureate and 100 points (D. Jenko, Belgrade, 2013), 1st prize at the International Radio Competition Concertino Praga and the special prize for best performance of the compulsory piece (2nd prize was not awarded, Prague 2013) and 1st Prize laureate and 100 points (D. Jenko, Belgrade, 2014)

In the 2012/2013 he passed an audition for the EUYO as the finalist, in the 2013/2014 he was adopted on their summer school (EUYO). He has been performed on many recitals in Slovenia. During the 2013/2014 he performed with the RTV SLO Symphony Orchestra, which performed the third movment of Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra in B Major, KV 191 by Mozart, and KGBL Symphony Orchestra, which performed Škerjanc concerto for bassoon, harp and strings.

He is in the second year of the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana. He has participated in many summer schools and masterclasses (Michael Tavernaro, Bence Boganyi, Robert Gillinger, Gustavo Núñez, Giorgio Mandolesi, Emmanuel Pahud, Stefano Canuti, Andrea Zucco) at summer schools and festivals (OFF Izola, Črnuško summer music workshop, Ljubljana Festival, Summer School of Narniju, masterclass within the AG Ljubljana, fagotistčni Festival in Ghent, Belgium).
