Izabel Markova started studying music at the age of three, beginning with the piano and voice lessons, at eleven she was accepted in the National School of Music ‘Lyubomir Pipkov’ in Sofia, Bulgaria in the viola class of Prof. Stefan Jilkov.
She received her first prize from the X Balkan Festival for Youths just one year later. Since then, she has won numerous awards: first prize from the International String Competition in Nis, Serbia (2011, 2013); second and third prizes from the International Competition for German and Austrian Music in Burgas, Bulgaria (2011, 2013); first prizes for the national competitions ‘Svetoslav Obretonov’ and ‘Varban Varbanov? (2012); first prize from the International Competition ‘Dobrin Petkov’, Plovdiv (2014); first prize and EMCY prize from the International Competition ‘Young Virtuosos’ Sophia (2015).
Her musical experience includes performing as a soloist with Sinfonietta Sofia Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra of BNR and Classic FM Orchestra. As a viola player she has been participating in the concerts of the Youth Philharmonics Sofia, Philharmonics Pioneer, Classic FM Orchestra and Hulencourt Chamber Soloists (Brussels). Her chamber music activities include many concerts and competitions.
In 2013, 2014 and 2015 Izabel was invited to take part in the prestigious chamber music academy and festival “Musica Mundi”, Belgium.
She has taken part in master classes with Alexander Zemtsov, Michael Zemtsov, Leonid Kerbel, Dora Schwartzberg, Wolfgang Closs and Jaime Huertas.
Izabel has never stopped playing piano and is a laureate of several competitions for non-professional pianists: ‘Viva-piano’, ‘Andrej Stoianov’, ‘On music’s rings’. She also likes to compose music and won third prize in the ‘Artistes en Herbe’ Composition Competition, Luxembourg 2015.
