Dorukhan Doruk was born in 1991 in Istanbul. He began his cello studies in 2000 with Dilbag Tokay in Istanbul and continued with Claus Kanngiesser at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz, Köln. He is currently studying with Truls Mørk at the Norwegian Academy of Music. After his solo debut with an orchestra at the age of 13, he performed with various orchestras such as Zagreb Soloists, Budapest Strings, Slovak Sinfonietta, Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra. Doruk performed as a soloist and chamber musician in prestigious festivals such as Verbier Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Istanbul Music Festival and appeared in major concert halls such as Vienna Konzerthaus, Tonhalle Zurich, Victoria Hall Geneva. He has been awarded at various national and international competitions, including the first prize and 5 special awards at the Antonio Janigro Cello Competition, first prize at Liezen Cello Competition. He attended to the masterclasses and workshops of Yo-Yo Ma, David Geringas, Steven Isserlis and Gary Hoffman. Doruk plays a Lupot Cello which was lent him by the “Güher&Süher Pekinel Young Musicians on World Stages Project” with the financial support of Tüpras.
