24.05.2016

EMCY is very happy to welcome two new member competitions: the International Television Contest for Young Musicians 'Nutcracker' and the Netherlands Violin Competition.

Open to musicians up to 14 years old (strings, piano and percussions) or 15 years old (winds) from throughout the world, the International Television Contest for Young Musicians 'Nutcracker' has earned the reputation as one of the most prestigious music contests for children in Russia.

Each year the contest discovers new and exciting talents from all over the world and provides young performers with opportunity to showcase their skills on a professional level, as well as exchange experiential knowledge and receive the judgment of eminent professionals. The contestants perform in front of many millions of viewers, as the auditions are both televised and streamed live on the channel’s website.

This means that the participation in ‘Nutcracker’ is an inspiring opportunity for young performers to step into spotlight. Besides, finalists are honoured to perform at one of the most prestigious Moscow venues – the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall – with one of the best symphony orchestra accompaniment.

The next edition of the competition will take place from 29th November to the 06th December 2016. Deadline for the application is 20th September 2016.

The Netherlands Violin Competition is open to Dutch violinist or to musicians residing since at least 2 years in the Netherlands. It is devoted to the promotion of the development of young violin talent under the age of 26, and to giving young violinists the chance to excel while inspiring the public. It is divided into three categories (Oskar Back: 18 - 26 years old, Davina van Wely: 14 - 17 years old, Iordens: 10 -13 years old). The 1st Prize winners will win concerts opportunities and all the laureates will benefit from an extended program with coaching, master classes and performances.

The next edition of the Netherlands Violin competition is planned for January 2018. The application deadline is still to be announced.
