GIVE MUSIC A FUTURE started its third activity: "Homage a Heifetz"!

On 2nd February was celebrated the birthday of the famous Vilnius born virtuoso Jascha Heifetz with a concert at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania. The soloists were exceptional young violinists: EMCY Prize winners Johan Dalene, awarded at the Menuhin Competition and Jing Zi Zhang, awarded at the International Balys Dvarionas Competition for Young Pianists and Violinists, as well as Mayumi Kanagawa and Justina Auskelyte. They played with the famous Vilnius St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra works by different composers who have lived in or originate from Vilnius.
“Homage a Heifetz” aims at revealing the multicultural traditions of Vilnius and to get acquainted with artists of different nationalities and cultures, who found their home in Vilnius. Concerts, discussions and roundtables are taking place in a uniquely decorated space called “Homage a Heifetz Lounge" in a restaurant-winery next to the Lithuanian Philharmonic Society, decorated by the Lithuanian organisation, Natu knygynas and the municipality of Vilnius. The design has been adapted from old Vilnius cafes and succeeds in engaging a broad audience in this project.
