IV International Music Festival “European Concerts in St. Petersburg”

29.11.2017

From 17th to 20th November the International Festival «European concerts in Saint-Petersburg» took place in Saint-Petersburg. The festival is organised by Mravinsky International Competition for Youth in colaboration with EMCY and the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg and takes place every 2 years.

This year the festival presented laureates of numerous international competitions – Stefan Iliev, winner of Competition of the United Music and Dance Teachers of Macedonia, Leonardo Chiodo, Dmitry Stopichev and Piotr Pawlak.

The concerts took place in the concert halls of the schools-organisers, but the final Gala concert was in one of the best halls in Europe – the Grand hall of St.Petersburg Philharmonic Society named after Dmitry Shostakovich.

With the assistance of the Youth Symphony Orchestra named after A. Paulavichus, conducted by the rector of St.Petersburg State Conservatoire Alexey Vasilyev, they exquisitely performed pieces by S.Rachmaninoff, G.Enescu, G. Rossini, J.Haydn, P. de Sarasate and G. Gershwin.

The festival has become not only a significant step in the participants creative careers, but also a bright event in musical life of the Northern Capital, contributing to strengthening of the international cooperation in the field of culture.
