Lea Sobbe was born in 1994 in Trier (Germany) where she had her first recorder lessons at the age of five. At 14 years she started her recorder studies with Thomas Kügler at University of Music Saar (Germany) and the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg (Luxembourg) where she recently received the diplôme supérieur with highest distinction. Since September 2014 Lea has continued her studies with Conrad Steinmann at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Switzerland). Next to her studies she took part in workshops and masterclasses with Dorothee Oberlinger, Hugo Reyne, Maurice Steger and Han Tol, supported mainly through scholarships of the Lyra foundation.

As a soloist, Lea has been awarded prizes in national and international competitions e.g. several first prizes in the competition Jugend musiziert on highest level, the special prize of Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben (2012), NDR Kulturpreis (2013) and the first prize with excellent distinction as well as the EMCY prize in the Concours pour Jeunes Solistes Luxembourg (2013).

In 2014 Lea was granted the Sparkassen-Musikstipendium Rheinland-Pfalz.

She performed on several stages, such as festival RMVA 2011/2015 (rencentres), Klangvokal Musikfestival Dortmund 2013, Internationales Musikfestival Oldenburger Promenade 2014 and as a soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra Trier (2014) and the Philharmonic Orchestra Luxembourg (2015).

Lea has been invited to play radio productions for the SR (Saarländischer Rundfunk) and NDR (Norddeutscher Rundfunk).
