Norwegian Music Competition for Youth, 22.11.-23.11.2014, Oslo

The Norwegian Music Competition for Youth 2014 took place at the Music Academy in Oslo 22th and 23th of November.
Following regional competitions at nine different places around the country from Alta up north to Kristiansand in the southern part of the country, 118 young musicians and singers qualified for the national competition in Oslo.

The competition has three levels: Semifinal, final and superfinal. Saturday started with every participant playing their program. The best firstprizewinners in each category took part in the final Sunday morning. Five finalists were picked by a special jury for the superfinal in the afternoon. The overall winner, the Musican of the Year was chosen. The young brilliant violinist Ludvig Gudim was the winner recieving 6000 euros from the Fure Foundation. Seven inspiration prizes of 800 euros were given to participants with a promising talent. Every firstprizewinner also got the opportunity to play concerts in Norway and abroad. The instruments for the competition this year were string-and windinstruments, voice, duo and ensemble.

At the European Concert Saturday evening we had the pleasure to welcome the recordplayer Lea Sobbe from Germany, and from Macedonia the singer Ivan Naumovski. This is always an inspiring moment in the competition! It is important to have the possibility to be inspired by young musicians and singers from other countries. It is great that this is made possible through the EMCY-network.
